Welcome to my first fishing blog! As some of you may be aware, I have also recently started a vlog series on youtube (CS Fishing – Go subscribe!) Since starting my channel I now have the confidence to start blogging along side. I will be writing up one a month to start and see how it goes. I’ve always had a real passion for writing about my fishing trips so I hope this comes across and you enjoy the read – any feed back would be great. So where do I start? Having just moved to Brightlingsea I was keen to find a local water. I started searching even before we’d secured the house – I must of done my girlfriend’s head in spending more time searching the Internet looking for fishing lakes than I was looking at the house- but it just had to be done! I came across the famous snake pit and on one of the trips up to view the house I managed to persuade the missus to come along for a walk around and, when I arrived, I was amazed. It was everything I had read about; a proper ...
March and April Update. March was a very slow month for fishing - I had just started working for a new company and early starts meant it was very hard to do quick sessions overnight and, as it was freezing cold, I didn’t fancy the 5am pack away. The syndicate was fishing fairly well for a few anglers which made it hard to stay away, but I was just waiting for the evenings to get lighter so I could have a few sessions after work for a few hours. After baiting a few areas during the week I rushed down there after work on the Thursday and, to my despair, the swims I had baited already had anglers installed in them for the whole weekend. I was gutted the weather had swung round again and over the weekend it didn’t get much above 7 degress so it was fairly uncomfortable, but the social continued and my godfather stru...
February Update Well after a great start to the month with that lovely 18lb mirror things really did slow up. I was getting to the lake at least one night a week as normal, but I just couldn’t seem to get onto the fish - they seemed to disappear though I think that was mainly down to the cold weather. The temperature really dropped over the course of a week or so and the fish were really affected. I spent a couple of nights fishing a few different areas of the lake using the same tactics as before - choddies or hinge stiff rigs as I was fishing the weedy swims to see if that’s where they were finding sanctuary, but nothing was happening. I lost a race to a swim one Monday which I really went to regret as one of the locals was walking around the lake earlier in the day and he had seen fish showing close in. The wind was pushing into the corner and the weather was set to get really cold that night so as this area was in the shallows and I didn’t think the fish would ...
